Breath of the Wild (botw) Is an extension of the Legends of Zelda franchise that from the beginning immerses players in an alluring action packed landscape. Hyrule Kingdom is filled with rolling hills and mysterious deep cut valleys. Hidden within the terrain puzzles, quests and enemies lie waiting for the player to uncover them as they adventure though Hyrule. Being able to explore the world in any way you choose, taking your time to overturn every stone or speeding through to battle allows for the player to decide how they would like to experience the game. Because of this almost anyone can enjoy the gameplay.

The character which the player controls is Link who has just awoken after 100 years. He is the hero and is set to rescue princess Zelda and Hyrule Kingdom from the clutches of Calamity Gannon. To do so Link must explore the expansive kingdom to collect new gear, remember his life 100 years ago, and help out citizens of Hyrule along the way.

This game offers aspects that can’t be rivaled by any other game, particularly the open world feature. The art is beautiful, and there is so much to explore. The game spawns the player in a cave where they learn the basic controls and obtain starter gear before leaving into the open world of Hyrule Kingdom. The beginning of the game features an extensive tutorial area called The Great Plateau where the player can learn the basics of the game, and unlock key features that will be crucial to future gameplay. Like previous Zelda games BOTW features shrines throughout the game which are areas which you enter and they contain puzzles, and or fights which if completed give loot. In BOTW the shrines also serve as potential points to teleport to by using the fast travel feature on the map. Shrines upon completion also offer orbs which can be used to increase Link's health or stamina. Because of this thought the game Link will become stronger: as he is better equipped to take fights with higher health, and able to run and climb further with increased stamina. Of all the loot in The Great Plateau the paraglider which can be obtained after completing all the shrines in the great plateau allows Link to fly beyond the walls of the plateau, is a particularly useful tool when exploring the world.

Each and every object encountered in the game has been crafted in magnificent detail. The forests filled with deer that run away if you are too loud are speckled with apple trees. There are so many elements to the game that make the world feel incredibly realistic, and entertaining to interact with. If you can imagine a way to overcome an obstacle in game, it can probably be done, and oftentimes applying real world logic can help you discover game mechanics.

An interesting aspect to the game that is different from many others is that weapons are easily breakable and using many different weapons throughout the game is crucial. Gamers who are used to saving the best weapons for the boss fights may find the weapons system in BOTW strange at first, but eventually learning which weapons are better against certain mobs will make using weapons feel more natural. Throughout the open world there are a variety of villages that Link can explore. He interacts with characters which offer side quests and contribute information about the story which is exciting to uncover. The people of Hyrule have their own stories and adventures and helping them along the way proves rewarding.

Any negative complaints about the game appear to come from fans of the Legend of Zelda series who don't like the changes between this game and previous iterations of Zelda games. While their complaints are valid, and there could be changes made to make the game more like previous versions overall as a game, Breath of The Wild is truly incredible.

Breath of the wild easily possesses hours of gameplay, and the in depth tutorial makes the game accessible to players of any experience level. Like any game the learning curve may be frustrating at first for beginners, but remember that death is only temporary, and making mistakes though the game helps you learn, and while learning elements to a new game deaths are inevitable.
